We recently caught up with Sydney based band Wake The Giants and had them answer a handful of questions for us! If you don’t already have these boys rocking your iPod then you’re missing out some fine pop-punk music. Check them out on facebook.
INHALE MUSIC: Tell us your name and your latest release?
WTG: We are WAKE THE GIANTS and have just released our debut, double disk, self titled E.P. We are donating half of all our profits to the Cancer Foundation in memory of our original singer Josh Morris, as he passed away just over a year ago after a long battle with the disease.
INHALE MUSIC: Who’s in your band?
WTG: Colby McQueen - Vocals, Zack Young and Travis Key - Guitar, James Clarke - Bass, and Tim Sharp - Drums.
INHALE MUSIC: Give us the run down on the bands history, how’d it all come about?
WTG: Basically this band has been around for a while in one form or another, always focused around Josh Morris on vocals. When he decided he wanted to focus on being more pop-punk orientated, he found new members including James and Zack. Later when he passed away, James and Zack wanted to keep his dream alive and went about finding new members, and after a long time they found Colby, Travis and Tim to finally solidify the line up.
INHALE MUSIC: What were the main influences when making the new E.P?
WTG: We listen to a wide variety of music, but at the time of writing Zack was listening to bands such as Chunk! No Captain Chunk!, A Day To Remember and Our Last Night.
INHALE MUSIC: You guys recently supported New Jersey’s Man Overboard on the Sydney leg of their Australian tour. How’d that go down?
WTG: Most of us had been big fans for a long time so to open for them was certainly a dream come true. We just played our best and had a good time, and then enjoyed watching the pro’s show everyone how it’s done afterwards haha.
INHALE MUSIC: If you could tour with any band in the world who would it be?
WTG: Touring with Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Would be pretty unreal!
INHALE MUSIC: What’s your favourite thing to see in the crowd when you’re on stage?
WTG: Just seeing people have a good time with a smile on their face and getting into our music is always amazing to see. When the crowd starts moshing and really going crazy is the best feeling.
INHALE MUSIC: Where can we find you lads playing at next?
WTG: We are playing at The Loft in Newcastle on Friday the 16th and at the Annandale on Sunday the 18th. They are both A/A events and feature some amazing bands on each line up. We are also using the shows to launch our E.P, so hopefully a lot of people come down and enjoy themselves!
INHALE MUSIC: And on a serious note… Skittles or M’n’M’s?
WTG: M’n’M’s for sure!!
